PT Pertamina EP Cepu Synergizes Forest Conservation and Village Community Economic Level Masyarakat

According to PT Pertamina EP Cepu JTB Site Office & PGA Manager Edy Purnomo, the PT Pertamina EP Cepu Agroforestry Program has been running since 2019, and is currently the second year of implementation of the program. "This program aims to improve the economy of rural communities, namely some forest management communities who are members of the Bandungrejo Village Forest Community Institution (LMDH)," said Edy.
In addition, this program also aims to provide a good environmental impact by conducting conservation in the Local Protected Areas (KPS) of the Clangap Forest Management Unit (BKPH) in order to maintain an environmental balance, he added.
The implementation of the PT Pertamina EP Cepu Agroforestry Program is facilitated by IDFoS Indonesia, by focusing its field practice on planting longan fruit plants that are considered suitable in the lowlands. In addition to these plants having relatively suitable characters for this area, longan is also a productive plant with good prospects for economic value. During 2019, this program has planted 1500 longan trees, and 1000 trees in 2020-2021.
Meanwhile, Ngasem Suwaji Sub-district Head gave his appreciation to PT Pertamina EP Cepu for implementing this program. "This program is very good and appropriate to be implemented in the Ngasem area, because there is a very large forest area in the Ngasem District, and it is possible that in the future it can be synchronized with various parties to become a village economic area as an agro-tourism area with Perhutani," explained Suwaji who was present at the Citizens' Meeting on the Approval of the Procedures for the 2020 Forest Area-Based Agroforestry Program at the Pendopo, Ngasem District, Bojonegoro, East Java on Tuesday (15/12).
On the same occasion, the Deputy Head of the Bojonegoro KPH Administration Heva Tulus also expressed his gratitude to PT Pertamina EP Cepu for initiating the Agroforestry Program in his area. "This program has the potential to become an example of a model for forest area management, especially in the Local Protected Areas (KPS) area, so that it can open the horizons of fellow forest cultivators (pesanggem)," explained Heva.
During the Citizens' Meeting on the Legalization of the Procedures for the 2020 Community Forest Area-Based Agroforestry Program, various representatives from agencies including KPH Bojonegoro, BKPH Clangap, Bappeda Bojonegoro, Bojonegoro Agriculture Service, Bojonegoro Environmental Service, Bojonegoro Regional Forestry Service and related stakeholders took part.
