Ensure On-Stream Readiness, Coordinating Ministry Visits JTB Project
Bojonegoro – As one of the largest gas producers in Indonesia, the Jambaran – Tiung Biru (JTB) Gas Field Development Project is expected to be completed on schedule. Economically, this project will also provide considerable benefits for all, especially in East Java Province, considering that the JTB gas allocation will later supply electricity, industry and other needs. This was conveyed by the Assistant Deputy for Oil and Gas, Mining and Petrochemical of the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy, Andi Novianto during a working visit to JTB in Bandungrejo Village, Ngasem, Bojonegoro, East Java on Friday (11/06/2021).
Andi hopes that JTB, which is included in the list of National Strategic Projects (PSN) in the energy sector, will provide a very large supply of gas needs in Java so that it will have the effect of increasing the economy both regionally and nationally. "As a National Strategic Project, the JTB project is expected to be a kind of pioneer that will provide the greatest benefit to the community," concluded Andi.
Prior to the site visit, the group from the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy received material presentations related to the progress of the JTB gas project which was delivered by the President Director of PT Pertamina EP Cepu (PT Pertamina EP Cepu), Awang Lazuardi, General Manager of the JTB Gas Project, Charles Harianto L. Tobing, and the Head of the Acceleration Unit. JTB project, Waras Budi Santosa.
In addition to discussing the JTB gas potential in terms of economic value, the Assistant Deputy for Oil and Gas, Mining and Petrochemical Team of the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy also discussed the readiness to welcome the production phase and plans for the Unitization of the Jambaran-Tiung Biru Gas Field with the Gresik-Semarang Pipeline which will be managed by Pertamina Gas ( Pertagas).
Meanwhile, the President Director of PT Pertamina EP Cepu, Awang Blueuardi explained that the JTB Project is projected to produce 192 MMSCFD of gas, of which 100 MMSCFD has been prepared to supply gas needs for power plants in East Java and Bali. He added that the JTB Project also faces several challenges, especially with the pandemic that has been going on for almost 2 (two) years.
“We are aware that we are in a race against time, especially with this COVID-19 pandemic. However, this storm did not dampen our enthusiasm to immediately On-Stream. Currently, we are strengthening our ranks and working harder with our partner, the RJJ Consortium, in order to fulfill energy needs," said Awang.
The JTB project which has a gas content of 2.5 trillion cubic feet (TCF) is being carried out by the RJJ Consortium. With the percentage of project development that has reached more than 91%, this project has also contributed to the community around the operational area, with the implementation of various Community Development Program activities such as the Layer Cultivation Program, Clean Water Access Procurement Program, Livelihood Improvement Program, Compensation Program Orphans, Healthy Children and Beloved Mothers Program (SEHATI) as well as various absorption of local workers in all areas of the project.
