From 2018 to 2020, at least PT Pertamina EP Cepu has carried out tree planting activities of 16 thousand Trembesi trees in the Bojonegoro area. The planting of the Trembesi tree, which is known to be able to produce oxygen from photosynthesis and at the same time absorb carbon dioxide, also functions as a shade tree in the summer.
PT Pertamina EP Cepu also continues to monitor the development of these thousands of Trembesi trees on a regular basis. This is done so that the benefits of tree planting really have a good impact on environmental sustainability and health. PT Pertamina EP Cepu representative, Yudit Ratania carried out monitoring activities, along with the Head of the Bojonegoro Regency Environmental Service, Hanafi who was accompanied by his staff. In the program partner activity, the NGO Ademos went directly to monitor the trees that had been planted along the Surabaya – Bojonegoro highway to the border with Ngawi Regency, East Java on Tuesday (09/06).
According to the Head of the Environment Agency of Bojonegoro Regency, Hanafi, this tree planting activity is part of a healthy life, because the air that is inhaled if the quality of oxygen is good, one of which is produced by trees, will certainly help maintain the health and environment of the community. Therefore, it is important for all parties to participate in preserving the environment, including the reforestation program.
“According to the direction of the Regent and Deputy Regent, we are planning to plant as many as 500 thousand trees. Alhamdulillah, PT Pertamina EP Cepu has planted 16 thousand trees from the target until next year as many as 25 thousand trees. It’s only been two years that it has reached more than fifty percent, we are optimistic that the target will be achieved.
