PEPC PLANTS 162,700 SEEDLINGS IN BOJONEGORO (PLANTING OF 20 MILLION TREES SIMULTANEOUSLY THROUGHOUT INDONESIA)

As part of the activities conducted in celebration of Pertamina’s 56th anniversay, another program organized was the planting of 20 million trees simultaneously throughout the Indonesian territory, breaking the records of the Indonesian Museum of Records (MURI).

This simultaneous planting of 20 million trees was initiated by PT Pertamina (Persero) in cooperation with the Indonesian National Army throughout Indonesia on 21 November 2013. In the Bojonegoro area, PT Pertamina EP Cepu (PEPC), representing PT Pertamina (Persero), symbolically planted trees jointly with the Territorial Military Command V of Brawijaya and the District Military Command 0813 Bojonegoro on the grounds of the Sumberarum village, Dander district.

The President-Director of PT Pertamina EP Cepu, Mr. Amril Thaib Mandailing symbolically planted a tree jointly with the Territorial Military Commander V Brawijaya TNI Mayor-General Ediwan Prabowo and in the presence of invitees the Bojonegoro Regent Mr. Suyoto and the Bojonegoro Regional Leadership Forum (Forpinda) and residents from the vicinity of the Sumberarum village.

The Bojonegoro Regency was allocated 162,700 (one hundred sixty-two thousand and seven hundred) tree seedlings which will be planted in and around the Bojonegoro Regency. As reported in the website of bojonegorokab.or.id, this quantity of seedlings would be spread out in four locations, amongst which in the vicinity of the Bojonegoro District Military Command 0813, in the area of Jombang and Mojokerto District Military Command and in the Pasuruan District Military Command.

Mr. Amril Thaib Mandailing, the President-Director of PT Pertamina EP Cepu stated that this save-the-trees initiative was a PT Pertamina (Persero) program conducted in a number of areas in Indonesia. He said that “This activity aims at reducing pollution, one of which is to mitigate the greenhouse effect.” During the same occasion, the President-Director also informed that the planting of 20 million trees was concentrated in Manokwari, Papua Province. He emphasized that Pertamina greatly cares for the environment.
