PEPC Organized the Selection for Oil and Gas Certification Training
Bojonegoro – As many as 483 young people from around the Jambaran – Tiung Biru (J-TB) Gas Fields Unitization project development took part in the selection for oil and gas certification training, pooled at the State Vocational High School (SMK Negeri) Purwosari in the Bojonegoro Regency, East Java, on Sunday 25th January 2015
They underwent a series of testing in order to qualify for participation in the certification training at the Cepu Oil and Gas Educational and Training Centre (Pusdiklat Migas Cepu) in the Blora Regency, Central Java.
This certification training was organized by Pertamina Ekplorasi dan Produksi Cepu (PEPC) the operator of the J-TB Gas Unitization in cooperation with the Bojonegoro Manpower, Transmigration and Social Affairs Agency (Disnakertransos) and Pusdiklat Migas Cepu.
The PEPC Public & Government Affairs Manager, Abdul Malik, stated that this selection testing was held in order to screen the best 175 participants out of a total of 483 applicants.
"The qualifying 175 participants will be trained to obtain certification in oil and gas at Pusdiklat Migas Cepu. They are free to opt from among four areas of training," said Abdul Malik to suarabanyuurip.com during a visit at the selection test in SMKN Purwosari, on Sunday (25/1/2015). The four areas of certification training given were for: Pipe Fitter, TMC Operator or mobile crane, Rigger and Scaffolding.
The Head of the Bojonegoro Agency for Manpower, Transmigration and Social Affairs, Adie Witjaksono, added that the test participants came from villages in five sub-districts, namely Ngasem, Kalitidu, Gayam, Purwosari and Tambakrejo.
"We will publicly announce the results of the tests, both on those who passed and who did not pass. At the same time distribute the scores to each individual participant.," added Adie Witjaksono.
Adie further said that prior to the selection, the participants were made to understand that the training was not meant to recruit employees, but was a chance to acquire skills. "This should not be misunderstood," emphasized the former Margomulyo Sub-district Head.
In similar terms with the Bojonegoro Head of Manpower Agency, PT Pertamina EP Cepu (PEPC) reiterated that the certification training for the local youth around the J-TB gas development project does not constitute a manpower recruitment exercise, but was a means to upgrade the skills of the locals to improve their competitiveness and to seek jobs within as well as outside the region.
"Let's be clear about that this training is not an employment recruitment exercise. This program aims at improving people's skills and competitiveness to help them find jobs, said the Public & Government Affairs Manager PEPC, Abdul Malik to suarabanyuurip.com.
"In analogy, this training may be regarded as an effort to obtain a driver’s license, which allows the holder to drive a vehicle. Holding a certificate allows the person to apply for a job anywhere," said Abdul Malik as an illustration.
Abdul Malik added that from all the applicants, 175 would be selected to take part in the certification training at Pusdiklat Migas Cepu.
"The reason we work in collaboration with Pusdiklat Migas is because this institution has authority in certifications," said Abdul Malik.
