Bojonegoro endures dryness, PEPC distributes clean water
BOJONEGORO- The local Bojonegoro regency administration through its Regent, Suyoto, declared that the long dry season this time was categorized as a natural calamity. Many villages have been adversely affected by the dryness for lack of clean water in the past few months with no rain. To overcome such calamity, PT Pertamina EP Cepu (PEPC) as a company that showed concern for the environment, donated by providing clean water in 12 (twelve) spots throughout a number of villages affected by the dryness located in a number of sub-districts in the Bojonegoro Regency. The distribution extended over a number of stages starting Thursday (30/10/14).
The 12 spots supplied with clean water by PEPC spread over 4 sub-districts, amongst which Ngasem, Gayam, Purwosari and Tambakrejo. The total donation distributed by PEPC reached 50 tanks of clean water each with a capacity of 5,000 liters.
According to the President Director of PT Pertamina EP Cepu, Amril Thaib Mandailing, as a company fully committed to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), PEPC is called upon to assist by providing clean water to the communities that are plagued by lack of water due to the long dry season, declared as calamity. It felt as duty for PEPC to distribute clean water to help inhabitants meet its consumption need.
It is hoped that the provision of clean water may partially relieve the inhabitants from the adverse effect of the lengthy dry season and protect it from a worsening water crisis. In the meantime, the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysical Agency forecast a continuing dry season with rain expected only in mid-November.
